How valuable is the technology behind BiONLY ®, which has been rated as a national green design product?

With the excellent characteristics of “green and low-carbon”, Changsu’s new biodegradable film BOPLA – BiONLY ® recently awarded the 2022 Green Design Product by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

This is the second “Green Manufacturing” honor awarded to Changsu after receiving two national honors, namely “National Green Factory” and “National Green Supply Chain Management Enterprise”. Behind this, it not only reflects the strong strength of Changsu’s technological achievements transformation, but also demonstrates Changsu’s confidence and determination to continue practicing sustainable development.

The design highlights of BiONLY®: One is to achieve the thinnest thickness in the industry with the world’s leading biaxial stretching process. Second, it is the first in China to achieve large-scale production, and the products have reliable biosecurity, controllable degradation, can reduce energy dependence, carbon reduction effect is remarkable.

From the design, manufacturing to the use of the whole cycle has reflected the “green low-carbon, energy saving and environmental protection” concept of BiONLY ®.  In addition, it also has these “technology gold content”.

Green manufacturing, the world’s leading support in technology

As is well known, PLA (polylactic acid) has been mass-produced for over 20 years and has been widely used in many fields, but there have been few breakthroughs in the technology of biaxial stretching. As the first large-scale production of a new type of biodegradable film BOPLA in China, the successful mass production indicates that China is at a world leading level in the field of biaxial stretching technology.

BiONLY® originates from nature and also belongs to nature. Its raw materials come from plants, which are abundant and renewable. The product can be biodegradable. After use, it can be quickly degraded into water and carbon dioxide through industrial composting, realizing the material cycle in nature and being friendly to the environment.

BiONLY® able to assist almost all industry, including leisure food, consumer electronics, e-commerce logistics, publishing and printing, in fulfilling their carbon reduction responsibilities from the perspective of new materials.

In terms of product innovation, BioNLY ® is making continuous efforts, not only obtaining the biodegradation certification from the national authoritative certification agency, but also obtaining the industrial composting certification and bio-based certification issued by the European Union and DIN. It has been applied to many products and have launched different models of products such as ECPs composite, ESL heat sealing, and ECP standard, to meet the needs of different application fields for high-quality biodegradable films.

Assist in carbon reduction and empower the sustainable development of the industry

With the further deepening of the national “dual carbon goals”, BiONLY® not only biodegradable, but also conforms to the sustainable policy trend of convenient recycling of a single material, and its advantages in environmental protection and carbon reduction are becoming more and more prominent.

For example: BiONLY ® as a base material, made of tape can replace the traditional non-degradable tape, applied in the express industry, enabling logistics enterprises reduce carbon emissions; In the field of disposable packaging bags, BiONLY ® can replace nearly 200 billion non-degradable disposable packaging bags per year; For disposable meal box film, it can replace nearly 10 billion non-degradable meal box film a year, and effectively help enterprises in food, catering and other fields to significantly reduce carbon emission.

As of now, the carbon reduction footprint of BiONLY has spread across multiple fields, including leisure food, consumer electronics, e-commerce logistics, publishing and printing. It is used by OPPO’s OnePlus and Real me, airlines such as China Eastern Airlines and Air China, as well as well-known companies such as Yili, Panpan and China Philately.
